Is Your Company’s Website Mobile & Tablet Friendly?
Our website is responsive. This means it works equally well on screens of all sizes, from laptops to tablets and smartphones. Having a responsive website also eliminates the need for a separate mobile website. As of 2016, 56% of website traffic comes from mobile devices and this number will only continue to grow.
Let’s face it, non-mobile friendly websites are terrible when it comes to looking at them on your phone:
If your website is difficult to navigate on mobile devices, visitors will leave it quickly. They’ll also make assumptions about you as well. If you owned a restaurant, you’d make sure the dining room was modern looking, uncluttered, and easy to walk around in. If it wasn’t, you’d probably lose customers. Same thing with your website. If you don’t have a mobile friendly website that’s easy to navigate, you look like you don’t understand (or care about) technology and that you don’t have much pride in what you do. We all judge a book by it’s cover.
Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) is the business of getting your website to higher on Google and other search engines for specific search terms. This includes doing a variety of tweaks to your website, which includes ensuring that your website is mobile friendly. In 2015, Google announced that it will consider mobile friendliness as a factor on how it ranks websites:
Google announced algorithm updates that will have a “significant impact” on mobile search results worldwide for mobile searchers. The update improves rankings for sites that provide a mobile-friendly experience to searchers on mobile devices, and, by association, demotes sites that do not.
In other words, if your website is NOT mobile friendly, you will lose out to a lot of needed website traffic. You alienate both people and search engines. There’s no excuse for this. Websites are affordable for business of all sizes, as are hosting plans and domain names.
